Wexford

Possibly the most exclusive site on the island, Wexford Plantation is 525 acres of golf, waterways and residences near the south end of Hilton Head. Evidence of the grandiose developer intent lies in the Georgian marble entrance foyer and the Tiffany glass skylights inside the plantation’s multi-million dollar clubhouse; another clue to the community’s elaborate nature is in the 24-carat gold lettered street signs, copper-domed street lamps, and the intricate hand-laid stone bridges. Unique to Wexford is the harbor on Broad Creek containing 130 slips for resident use, as well as boat slips adjacent to estate homes for private docking.

The private golf course, is the annual qualifying site for the PGA Tour’s Heritage Classic, which is held later at Sea Pines. A Head Pro with three assistant Pros are available for service. Members and children under 21 play for free, but watch out for the 72 sand traps—Wexford is not only a private course, but a creative one. Six clay Har-Tru courts, two which are lighted, have views of the harbor and golf course.
